The Waco Crime Stoppers program was a big winner at this year’s Annual Texas Crime Stopper Conference.
Waco Crime Stopper Board Members Dena Dieterich and Jeanne Beals along with Waco Police Officers Sofie Martinez and Steve Dieterich (Waco Crime Stopper Coordinator) attended the 22nd Annual Texas Crime Stopper Conference in Abilene Texas on October 11th-14th.
The program received awards from the Office of the Governor in the following categories:
Television Competition- Crime of the Week: A tip from a crime of the week aided in solving an aggravated robbery of an elderly couple which occurred at Lake Air Towers. The Crime of the Week was produced by Troy Shaw of WCCC-10.
Productivity Award-Greatest Dollar Recovery/Most Cases Cleared for program serving population 200,001-250,000: Waco Crime Stoppers serves all of McLennan County to include all schools.
Innovative Publicity: This award was for Waco Crime Stopper “temporary tattoos” that are used at children’s programs to promote Crime Stoppers.
Waco Crime Stoppers Inc… also received a Certificate from the Governors office recognizing the program as a Crime Stopper Program that is a 25 year old program or older. Waco Crime Stoppers has been serving the citizens of Waco- McLennan County since March 1, 1981.
Waco Crime Stoppers Inc. has won 16 awards for the Governors Office in the past 9 years.
