The Baylor football team beat Kansas State on Saturday, 47 to 42. This win put the team in the top 25 rankings, and make them eligible for a bowl game for the first time since 1993.
One Athletic Director, John Morris says he thinks the team has been successful for a number of reasons. He says, "We just have more Big 12 caliber players now. The system's in place. The fans have taken to the rise up campaign, and that's a big part of it also. So, I just think its all those things coming together and having the type of season we hoped when coach Briles was hired." He also says that everyone involved in any aspect at Baylor, has continued to show their support every week, at the stadium, and on campus.
The team has a new indoor practice facility, allowing the players to practice inside, when there are harsh weather conditions. Because the team no longer misses practices due to the weather, they can continue to fully prepare for upcoming games this season.
The Baylor Bears play the University of Texas this coming weekend, who they have not won a game against since 1997. The team hopes they can beat UT this weekend, to continue their successful season.
The University has adopted a new theme this year called "Rise Up". Baylor faculty, students, and staff, are encouraged to "rise up" and support the team, giving the placers and coaches motivation, knowing the Baylor community is cheering them on to victory.
One freshman Baylor student says it is exciting to see the football team progress this year. He said that he has gone to all the games and supported Baylor the entire time.
Baylor officials say that they are extremely pleased how everyone has supported the football team this year, and believe this support has really encouraged the team.
