WACO -- Today is national Aids Day. People gathered in Waco to raise HIV and AIDS awareness and to promote education and acceptance.
A human red ribbon was made at Quinn Middle School this morning. People of all ages gathered to show their support.
Director of the event, Reverend Valda Combs, says they hope it will bring awareness to the disease.
"Statistics say 75 percent of the people who are infected with HIV don't even know it, and if we have a community where we don't discuss it, then people don't get tested. And why don't they get tested? Because they are afraid of the stigma," said Combs.
