Earlier this Fall, a Killeen Fireman, Lt. Tim Rabroker, told his team he had testicular cancer, requiring surgery and chemotherapy. When the station heard the news, they wanted to help as much as possible by starting a fundraiser.
Deputy Chief Kenneth Hawthorne, says they treat each other like family, and they all take care of each other.
The fire station began the fundraiser to help Lt. Rabroker and his family pay for medical bills, and show support by shaving their heads.
One female firefighter, raised nearly 11 hundred dollars her self, for shaving her head at the fundraiser.
Hawthorne says about 160 people from the community, including firefighters, were at the station yesterday afternoon, shaving their heads and donating money, to show their support. He says people were "lighthearted and happy", to help out and support an outstanding citizen during this difficult time.
The station has already raised nearly 10,000 dollars for Lt. Rabroker, and will continue to take donations.
People who were unable to attend the event, can still donate money at any Extraco Bank, in Lt. Rabroker's name.
