TEXAS -- More than 1,100 drunk drivers were arrested in Texas over the holiday.
Texas Department of Public Safety says a special enforcement program targeting drunk drivers really did the job of taking them off the road.
Police arrested the 1,100 drivers between Dec. 21 and Jan 1.
DPS says the $2 million dollar grant allowed them to stay on the road longer and arrest more drunk drivers.
They will keep running the program during Spring Break, Independence Day and Labor Day.
Almost 300 more arrests were made this year than last.
