Half the Texas house seems to believe that handguns on campus would be a good thing, but Baylor University officials don't agree. They say, "Permitting guns would introduce a new set of potential challenges to campus safety, and therefore we don't believe guns on our campus are a good idea generally."
Dr. Matt Gerber, a professor at Baylor says, "it would make me feel less secure to know that I were teaching in a room with armed students. I would be more worried about an accident or something like that."
Some students say it's the responsibility of campus police to keep them safe, but others say they think "students should be allowed to carry as long as its concealed."
If the law passes, Baylor could still opt out of it, because they are a private university. However, public schools would still have to follow new regulations.
