TEXAS — Yesterday Texas Forest Service responded to 12 fires for 340 acres.
So far today there have been 18 requests for assistance from Texas Forest Service (TFS) resources.
Bowie County, Fire #87 - TFS resources responded to this 1 acre fire at 2:54. Cause of fire was debri burning. Fire was 1 acre and was controlled at 4:29.
Upshur County, Fire #88 - TFS resources responded to fire 15 miles nortrhwest of Gilman at 14:29. Fire was 1/2 acre in cutover and was controlled at 3:43.
Marion County, Fire #89 - TFS resources responded to fire 10 miles east of Jefferson.
Harrison County, Fire #90 - TFS resources responded to fire 2 miles northwest of Scottsville at 3:04. Fire was controlled 4:33.
Harrison County, Fire - TFS tractor plow and overhead responded at 4:04. Fire is approximately 2 acres in young pine and hardwood.
Anderson County, Fire #68 - TFS resources responded at 3:13. Several structures were threatened. 3 acre fire was controlleded at 5:09.
Anderson County, Fire #65 - Three TFS crews responded at 7:24. Approximately 3 acre fire. No additonal updates at this time.
Cherokee County, Fire #71 - TFS tractor plow and overhead responded at 5:00. Fire is approximately 5 miles out of Jacksonville.
Smith County, Fire #066 - TFS crews responded at 11:52. 1 acre fire from power line. 1 structure lost. Fire was controlled at 4:00 pm.
Rusk County, Fire #069 - TFS tractor plow and overhead responded to fire 6 miles west of Tatum at 3:20. 3 acre fire was caused by debris burning. Fire was contained at 4:37.
Panola County, Fire #067 - TFS tractor plow and overhead responded at 4:24. Additional tractor plow was enroute at 4:25.
Angelina County, Zavalia #162 Fire - TFS Dozer and overhead responded at 11:28. US Forest Service dozer also responded. 6 acre fire caused by powerline in 4-5 yr old plantation. Controlled at 4:07
Sabine County - TFS resources responded at 14:25. Fire on USFS 8 miles southeast of Milan. Approximately 10 acres. Fire turned over to USFS . USFS dozer and helicopter on fire.
Angelina County, Fire #164 - TFS resources responded at 4:23 to fire 2 miles south/southeast of Zavalla. 2 acre fire was a catch out from a prescribed burn. Controlled at 3:25.
Jasper County, Fire #165 - Four TFS tractor plows and overhead responded at 3:23 to fire 12 miles southwest of Kirbyville. Approximately 7 acre fire caused by lightning in Pine/Cut-over. Controlled at 3:32.
Midland County, Chad Fire - TFS resources responded at 3:58. Fire is 300 acres with 20 home threatened; 2 homes damaged. A taskforce of 3 dozers, 1 engine, and 6 overhead responded to fire. Resources released and diverted to Briarwood Fire. Cause was a house fire.
Midland County, Briarwood Fire - TFS taskforce of 3 dozers, 1 engine, and 6 overhead responded at 4:44.
200 acre fire, 30 homes and 70 outbuildings threatened. Fire is pproximately 6 miles W/NW of Midland in a subdivision.
Brewster County, Ralph Keller Ranch Fire - TFS resources responded at 4:06. Fire is 400-500 acres, approximately 2-3 miles in length. 3 homes are threatened, 3 outbuildings threatened. A taskforce of 2 dozers, 2 engines, and 5 over head as well as Los Diablos 20 person handcrew on fire.

Ector County, 3503 Fire - At 4:10 pm TFS resources were requested to assist local fire departments with this fire locate approximately 4 miles E of Odessa, S of I-20 on Loop 338 East. Two fires estimated to be 30 acres each threatened 5 structures, a gas compression station, and multiple pump jacks. A TFS Task Force of 3 dozers, an engine and overhead, an Air Attack, 2 SEAT's, and a heavy Helitanker responded. The fire is 90% contained at 9:55.
Bastrop County, Sand Hills Road Fire - At 4:27 pm TFS resources were requested to assist local fire departments with this fire located approximately 13 miles SW of Bastrop near Red Rock. A TFS dozer and overhead responded. Three structures were threatened. The fire was contained at 7:00 pm on 3/21.
San Jacinto County, Fostoria Road Fire #149 - At 4:18 pm Sunday TFS assistance was requested to assist local fire departments on this fire located approximately 7 miles NW of Cleveland. This 501 acre fire was reported to be 100% contained at 11:00 pm on 3/20. Ten homes were threatened and saved. TFS and US Forest Service resources are continuing aerial monitoring, mopping up and improving containment lines. Fire cause is under investigation.
Red River County, Albion Fire #86 - At 4:25 TFS resources were requested to assist local fire departments with this fire in a pine plantation. Three tractor plows and overhead responded. The 204 acre fire was controlled at 2:19. Cause was unknown.

A cold front will move to an afternoon position from the Big Country to the Lower Trans Pecos. Red Flag Warning Condtions are forecast behind the cold front with RH values below 15% and west winds 20-30 mph with gusts to 45 mph. Extremely critical fire weather conditions are forecast across the Texas Panhandle.
Ahead of the cold front RH values will range from near 30% in the Big Country and Concho Valley to near 50% along the Gulf Coast. South winds will increase to 20 to 30 mph with some higher gusts. Morning low clouds and coastal fog will give way to partly cloudy skies in the afternoon. Isloated thunderstorms will be possible from the Big Country to the Edwards Plateau.

A southerly flow will continue with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s and minimum RH values 40-45%. South winds will increase to 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Morning low clouds and coastal fog will give way to partly cloudy skies in the afternoon. No precipitation is forecast.
