WACO -- The good news is Waco is growing.
However that growth poses many problems for the city's planning organization.
According to the Census Bureau report, the growing population is settling in areas like China Spring, Robinson and the Hewitt area.
Meaning the highest growth areas are outside what is currently developed.
The current transportation infrastructure is not equipped to handle the amount of traffic seen in those areas, so that lack of infrastructure leaves the planning organization with more questions.
"If this trend continues, this generally means higher cost for everyone involved. Because we're, we're building new stuff and we still have to maintain all the old stuff. One of the dialogue's we have to have with the public is 'can we continue to afford this pattern?'" said Chris Evilia, of the Metropolitan Planning Organization.
Evilia said right now the organization is working to come up with the funds to keep up with the growing population, while trying to maintain the infrastructure that's already in place in the urban areas of Waco.
