Waco law enforcement is warning the public to beware two con men who recently tricked a local person.
Officials believe at around 4:00 p.m. Monday, two nicely dressed men with foreign accents approached a victim at the Chase Bank parking lot located in the 300 block of N. New Road. They were both dressed in business suits and spoke with an alleged thick African accent. They were able to con the victim out of a large sum of money and several pieces of expensive jewelry. They used flash money to make the victim believe they were trustworthy and convinced the victim to withdraw cash to “help them”.
The suspected men are very convincing in their desperate stories and have used similar stories in the past to get money from people. These types of scams have occurred in the Waco area over the past several months. It is unknown at this time if these are the same suspects from prior cases, but descriptions and M.O. are the same.
Law enforcement is urging citizens to not fall prey to these types of thefts and to remain vigilant to the possibility of this occurring again in the future.
Anyone with information on any of these cases is asked to contact Waco Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
