WACO -- It's the fourth time since March that this type of scam has hit Waco.
Police refer to it as the "Pigeon drop" case where two, nicely dressed men with African accents con victims into giving them large sums of money.
"One of those suspects will approach an individual; kind of develop a relationship with them. Ask for a ride and then they end up somewhere along the line meeting with a second individual, and they end up getting money in a good faith effort from the victim," said Sgt. Patrick Swanton, police spokesman.
That description is similar to a report police received Monday, when a victim claimed he was approached by two suspects who eventually conned him out of money.
At the Chase bank off of North New Road.
Police say unfortunately in this case good intentions will cost you.
"The report gets developed with all I'm doing is giving somebody a ride. They seem honest, they seem like they are really in need. and then it just kinda starts there," said Swanton.
And Waco police aren't the only ones investigating cases like this.
"The Dallas-Fort Worth area has had several. We're sharing intelligence with them trying to find out who these suspects are. We know that the Conroe area has had some. So we believe they're up and down the I-35 corridor," said Swanton.
Anyone with information about these cases are asked to contact the police department or Waco Crime Stoppers.
