CALDWELL -- The normally busy hallways of Caldwell High School were empty today thanks to a fire and will be empty tomorrow.
School officials canceled classes this morning because of smoke damage throughout the building.
Officials tell us the fire began in a laundry room near the locker rooms and gymnasium just after midnight. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze so no other rooms were affected and Superintendent Dr. Cummings says the Hornets won't let something like this get their spirits down.
"The spirit of the Hornets are very strong and we are just going to pick up our pieces and move on down the road to what challenges lie ahead of us and go from there."
Because of the smoke damage inside of the building, school officials have canceled classes tomorrow as well.
They tell us they will re-evaluate the situation Thursday morning to see if classes can be held on Friday or not so we'll keep you updated.
