BRYAN -- The Travis B. Municipal Golf Course is the center of attention once again.
The course's future is now being put to a vote on the November ballot and the city is hoping voters chose to sell it but some avid golfers disagree.
And now they're teed off about it.
The Travis B. Municipal Golf Course has been around for nearly 100 years and for golfers like Hugh Seale, this course is home.
"Well it means everything to me. I grew up here. I'm 71 years-old and I've played this golf course ever since I came back here in 1964 and my children have played this golf course."
But that could all change in a couple of weeks because the city is hoping to sell the course and buy the Briarcrest Country Club.
Mayor Jason Bienski said, "This summer it officially hit the market. It was for sale and they listed it with a broker and put it on the market and we had lots of folks say mayor, council, city why don't you look into buying this and maybe upgrading our facilities at the municipal course?"
Just this week, the city council voted six to zero to buy the country club contingent of voter approval and Mayor Bienski says he hopes this move shows voters just how serious the city is about purchasing Briarcrest.
"We are pursing it. We are very close to getting this deal wrapped up. I feel very confident within the next week that we'll agree on terms and move forward on the deal," said Bienski.
But Seale isn't so confident.
"Ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a merry Christmas too but that hadn't been done."
And other golfers say they just want to make sure they'll have a course to play on.
"If they didn't have to, I wouldn't want them to sell it but if they did, as long as I have somewhere to play but I really do like this one better though," said golfer Jesse Valenzuela.
Voters will have until November 8th to make their mind up and Mayor Bienski says whether the people vote to keep or sell the course, either way it should be a hole-in-one.
