Killeen Police have arrested a 16-year boy who was involved in an early morning shooting death shortly after midnight.
Officers responded to a 911 call at 12:06 a.m. to a report of a shooting victim in the 3400 block of Maid Marian Circle. While the officers were responding, they were told that a 16-year old boy had shot himself.
Officers arrived to find the victim with a gunshot wound to the head. Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced Benjamin Charles Shedwin deceased at 12:40 am.
While the officers and detectives were investigating this incident, another 16-year old boy told them he was at the scene when this happened; he was taken to the Killeen Police Department to speak with detectives. While the detectives were speaking with the teen it was determined he was involved in this shooting and was taken into custody. He is currently in the Bell County Juvenile Detention Center charged with murder.
The name of the 16-year old will not be released because he is a juvenile.
This case continues to be investigated and information will be released as it becomes available.
