The driver of the car involved in Friday morning's fatality is 28-year old Miranda Monique Campbell of Waco. The passenger of that vehicle is 39-year old Cindy Ann Murray, also of Waco.
One person is dead and two are injured after a speeding SUV rear ended their truck Friday morning.
Waco Police responded to a crash at around 6:38 a.m. in the 3600 block of West Waco Drive. The two vehicle crash left one person dead and two injured.
Waco Fire Department was called to assist due to one of the vehicles catching fire.
According to police, a speeding car was headed westbound on W. Waco Dr. when it hit a truck that was also traveling Westbound. The collision caused the Pickup to catch fire and killed the driver of the truck. The two passengers in the car were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Initially Friday morning at 6:15 a.m., officers were notified of a disturbance in the 400 block of E. Waco Dr. It is believed the female driver of the car was involved, but when officers arrived the disturbance, she was gone.
At 6:17 a.m., authorities were notified the disturbance was now at the police station lobby located at 721 N. 4th.
The driver of the car was in the front lobby belligerent and was contacted by officers. The white female was interviewed and it was determined there was no legal reason to arrest her. She was released from
the scene with her friend volunteering to drive her home.
Between 6:31 a.m. and the time of the crash, the car was seen again stopping in the area of 1800 W. Waco Dr., and then again in the area of 23rd and W. Waco Dr. Officers made contact both times again with the occupants and no violations or reasons to detain the two were apparent.
It was after the last contact in the 2300 block of W. Waco Dr. that the car left traveling Westbound. Officers were not behind the vehicle or attempting to stop it.
The car hit the truck in the 3600 block of Waco Drive, causing the death of the unknown individual.
