KILLEEN -- Tonight Killeen Police are investigating a high-speed motorcycle accident that left one dead and two in the hospital.
It happened around one this morning when a police officer saw three motorcycles on Stan Schlueter Loop near Trimmier road, two of them racing. One turned off the road and police say he was not involved in the race.
The police officer was only able to pull over one motorcycle while the other sped off and turned onto Clear Creek.
"At about the 3700 block of Clear Creek there's a McDonald's and there was a car that were pulling out of the drive thru onto Clear Creek when the motorcycle collided with their car. Caused the motorcycle rider to be thrown over the vehicle, it turned the vehicle over on its top," Killeen Police spokesperson, Carroll Smith said.
Killeen police say the motorcyclist, 31-year old Fort Hood soldier Sharod Ahkeim Carroll, was pronounced dead at 1:30 am.
The driver of the car was pinned and was removed by the Jaws of Life machine and air-lifted to Scott and White. The passenger was taken by ambulance to Metroplex Hospital. Police do not believe they had life threatening injuries.
