WACO — Two waco police officers had to be taken to a local hospital after an alleged intoxicated driver hit a vehicle they were inspecting.
At around 2:00 this morning, authorities were working an accident at the intersection of Martin Luther King and the I-35 access road. When officers were checking one of the vehicles, an SUV hit the rear of the vehicle, sending both policemen flying.
Both officer were treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital.
The driver, 38-year old Timothy Donnell Robinson of Waco, was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Upon his realease, Robinson was booked into the McLennan County Jail and is charged with two counts of intoxication assault on a peace officer and possession of marijuana.
The names of the officers are not being released, however, one is a five-year officer and the other is a rookie in training.
