BRYAN-- A well-known Bryan gang member and a wanted fugitive has been captured less than 24 hours after he was added to the Texas "Top 10 Most Wanted" list.
All it took was one phone call and an anonymous tipster that lead police to the front door of where a local fugitive and a Latin Kings gang member was hiding out.
"They were made aware of a possible address on North Sims in Bryan so they did a covert surveillance of the address given to them," said Texas DPS Trooper, Jimmy Morgan.
After investigators confirmed Daniel Pineda Jr. was inside the home, the Texas Rangers, DPS criminal investigative department, Bryan PD, and the special response team surrounded the area.
"At that point we didn't know if we were going to get ourselves into a standoff or not so the extra man power was needed," Morgan said.
Pineda refused to come out but after several hours Trooper Morgan said he finally gave himself up to authorities peacefully.
"Obviously this is what we shoot for in the Brazos County and to have that quick of a response and an arrest made in the same day is just amazing."
Pineda is now in the Brazos County Jail and Trooper Morgan says residents can feel safe knowing that one more criminal is off the streets.
