WACO -- It's what Waco Convention Center officials are calling their grand opening, because after 17 and a half million dollars of renovations, it's nearly all new.
The Waco Convention Center has been under construction since 2009, after tax payers passed to use $17.5 million to renovate the 40 year old building in 2007.
Now with new additions, windows and escalators to name a few, the facility is one to brag about and all falls in line with the up-and-coming changes to downtown.
"When you add the whole concept of all the development that's happening downtown as well as the Baylor Stadium and all the things that come with that, I just think it's extraordinary. It's an extraordinary set up for a wonderful future for this community," Elizabeth Taylor, Director for the Waco Convention Center said.
At 3:30 Tuesday afternoon there will be a rededication of the Freedom Fountain and an open house for anyone in the community to attend.
