WACO -- "It is really tough this year."
Jeannie Grady's three grandkids are just a few of the 13 kids selected to get a free shopping spree to buy brand new school clothes.
"My grand babies will have clothes to go back to school that haven't been used," said Grady.
After a tragic event in her family, Grady and her daughter, who is a mother of three with another on the way, have had to combine households.
"Without the Salvation Army helping us I wouldn't be able to do any of these things," said Grady.
Each kid received an $80 gift card to Target to go towards school uniforms and a new pair of shoes.
For some of these kids, it's the first time they've picked out their own clothes.
"They're so excited they're like 'oh my god', they get to pick out what they wear. Someone's not picking it out for them, they get to choose what they wear," said Grady.
While today the kids were able to get some of their school clothes, these kids and many others in McLennan County are still reliant on the Stuff the Bus Tour for all of their school supplies, such as backpacks, notebooks and markers.
So if they weren't ready to go back to school yet, they certainly will be now.
"You get to learn and you get to have fun with your friends."
