kILLEEN, TEXAS — A Killeen woman will serve seven years in prison as part of an open plea agreement for allegedly burning her baby.
Jasmine Janae Morris pleaded guilty on Monday to intentionally burning her three-month-old baby with a curling iron in April 2012.
According to reports, Killeen Police officers received a call from Child Protective Services, saying Morris, then 18, brought the child in saying she harmed her and didn't want her anymore.
"The officers got there, saw that the child had been burned and spoke with the mother. And at that time she was taken into custody. The (District Attorney's) office reviewed the paper work and issued a complaint for injury to a child," said Carroll Smith, Killeen Police Public Information Officer.
