Temple police investigate alleged burglary, shooting

Temple Police Department's General Investigations Unit is currently investigating a burglary where a female suffered a gunshot wound.

On Monday, around 1:02 p.m., police were called to a home in the 4800 block of Silver Leaf Court, in reference to a report of a victim of a gunshot wound. When officers arrived, they found the 26-year-old victim had one gunshot wound to her lower leg, which was non-life-threatening. She was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where she is receiving treatment.

The victim reported that two black male suspects, wearing white T-shirts and dark pants, had entered the residence through an unsecure back door. The victim described one of the suspects as wearing a black jacket.

The victim stated she confronted the subjects with a family firearm, and at some point two shots were fired, with one bullet striking the victim in the lower leg. The weapon used appears to belong at the residence and was recovered at the scene. The incident remains under investigation at this time by the Temple Police Department’s General Investigations Unit.
