Temple police officers arrested a woman, after discovering she was traveling with ten kilograms of cocaine in her vehicle.

Around 10:30 a.m. Thursday, an officer with the Temple Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 5300 block of South Interstate 35. During the course of the stop and subsequent interview, it was discovered that the driver, Maria Isabel Sanchez, 42, of Eagle Pass, TX, was transporting a controlled substance.

A search of the vehicle was conducted by agents with the Temple Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit. Agents located a total of ten kilograms of cocaine, concealed inside the vehicle, with a street value of about $985,000.

The case was reviewed by the United States Attorney’s Office in Waco and a federal complaint issued, charging Sanchez with Possession With Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance. Officers transported Sanchez to a federal detention facility in Waco early Friday.
