Thefts and burglaries happen any time, anywhere -- especially on a college campus but a rash of break-ins this past weekend at a very unlikely place has Texas A&M Police on high alert.

While everyone was enjoying an Aggie win this past Saturday somebody took advantage of the fact that all the Corps of Cadets members were at Kyle Field and not in their dorm rooms.

"I noticed my iPod was gone and I thought maybe I had just misplaced it so I called my mom and she said, 'Look for you camera' and it was gone," said sophomore Schuyler Watson. "So my roommate said check for all your stuff and I found out all my video games were gone too."

Watson was just one of more than 20 students in White Hall who's room was broken into and university police tell us this isn't the first time something like this has happened.

"Most all of these have happened on home game weekends during game-day activities," said Lt. Allan Baron.

Right now university police are investigating more than 40 burglaries -- all in the Corps residence halls from this year alone -- something Corps member and resident of White Hall, Michael Whitehead, finds alarming.

"Basically this is your home, it's where we live and there's people that you don't know going through everything, taking stuff and basically having free-reign on everything."

The thieves took whatever they could get their hands on: from money, to electronics, even an Aggie ring.

Watson said, "The belongings were important to me, I mean, they're expensive but it's more about the shock of, 'Oh I've been robbed' and realizing that somebody was in my room a few hours earlier that didn't belong."

Like so many other Corps of Cadets, Watson learned the hard way not to leave his door unlocked. He says that won't ever happen again, especially this weekend.

Police tell us they'll beef up security Saturday near the Corps Quad during A&M's last home game against Missouri.

If you have any information regarding the burglaries, you're asked to call TAMU PD.
