BRYAN -- A major inconvenience for Bryan drivers this weekend --- one of the busiest streets in town will be closed for construction.
Lauren Holman tells us where these closures are so it doesn't affect your weekend plans.
Jesse Ocana, owner and manager, of Jesse's Taqueria and Bakery says he opened his store on the corner of East 29th Street and Briarcrest Drive because of its location.
"It's plenty of business no matter where you look."
And while nearly 50,000 people drive through this intersection on a daily basis, Ocana fears the on-going Briarcrest expansion project will literally drive his customers away.
"They'll definitely have to take a different route and that means we'll be out of a lot of clientele," says Ocana.
On Saturday and Sunday parts of East 29th Street will be shut down for even more construction but TxDOT's Bob Colwell tells us this weekend was the best option to minimalize the effect it has on drivers.
"We tried to pick a weekend where there isn't an Aggie home game with all the fans in town and we definitely want to get it down before Thanksgiving and Christmas," said Colwell.
But Ocana says he'll still lose business.
"It's going to cost us thousands of dollars," said Ocana. "Every day, even if it's just a couple hundred dollars, it still makes a big difference."
TxDOT will close 29th street Friday evening at 6:30 and open it back up Monday morning.
Colwell says, "This is a little bit of pain for a lot of gain."
The expansion project is expected to be completed in May 2013.
