Waco police officers responded to a disturbance in the parking lot of Dillard’s department store, located at 6001 West Waco Drive on December 9 at 5:21 p.m. When they arrived, officers say they discovered an off-duty officer, working security at the Dillard’s store, wrestling with a theft suspect.

According to the report, the officer had attempted to take a 25-year-old Adriana Nicole Fossett into custody. Fossett allegedly began fighting with the officer, which resulted in the officer becoming injured. The responding Waco officers assisted in getting Fossett under control and discovered that she had stolen 633 dollars worth of merchandise from Dillard’s.

The injured officer did not seek medical treatment at the scene. However, Fossett, was transported to Providence, for an unrelated medical event, where she was treated and released. Fossett was then transported to the McLennan County Jail and is now charged with robbery and resisting arrest.
