Bellmead, TX — One woman didn't wait for Thanksgiving to end before putting up a handmade Christmas scene in her front yard. While it's Christmas inspired, this Central Texas minister says the scene isn't just about the holiday.
It's a familiar replica of the famous manger scene from the bible, but this one's different.
“This is just one of the scenes that I have dreamed for, to look something like this," said minister, Carolyn Johnson.
Everything was specially crafted and designed by a Johnson and her sons.
"They can just hear the music and just watch the scene and pray if they want to. Or, just sit here and come here for comfort," said Johnson.
Johnson had one son assemble the scene last month. She intends for it to spread a year-round message. So far, it's paying off. Cars constantly slow down to take everything in as they pass by.
"I was caught off guard by the following because I didn't think it would really get that big. It was really just something for us," said Johnson’s son, Ira.
And, it's the only house with snow in Bellmead, thanks to another son, Michael.
"You're rewarded by the fruits of your labor when you see people come by and stop by," said Johnson’s son, Michael.
Johnson didn't do it just for Christmas, as she doesn't just celebrate it only on December 25. She says no one actually knows Jesus' birth date. So, she feels it's important to always share the message.
"Anything we could put out to get a person's attention wanting to live for Jesus, that's what we do," said Johnson.
This has been one of the most powerful of several scenes showcased in Johnson's yard.
